In Rwanda , the land become more scarce as the time come, we have to change mindset of many people for growing crops at small land by improved technologies and innovations and rearing animal for compensation to the agriculture sector , but also the animals that grows quicker than others and also that not require a wide space. We want that piggery come as solution to many households in Rwanda for generating income and increase production of meat that a small part can be also consumed locally in their villages and at home, for enhance their live conditions. For achieving the goal of food security and generating income to smallholder farmers, VAF planned a strategy of collecting live pigs from farms to collection center, where all pigs collected should be transformed into different products or sold to slaughter-houses. Small butcheries will build near the center or in towns for facilitating people to access the pork nearby.

Our role to achieving that ambition is emphasizing on strengthening the breeding center of improved breeds and providing training through the groups about pig farm management and how easily to prepare the business plan of pig project. We would like to play advocacy for empowering and support our program of capacity building to youth about health animals and pig farm management. It is approved that farmers who got chances of recruiting farmers workers already trained in our centers, they have a good performance of theirs projects. Learning by doing is the important technique that we use for training farmers and farm workers.
