Vision Agribusiness Farm Ltd (VAF), in partnership with RCVD, officially launched the first day of its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Training Workshop focused on modern swine reproduction technologies and veterinary best practices.

The three-day training workshop, hosted at VAF Farm in Gicumbi District, brought together veterinary doctors, paraprofessionals, and animal health practitioners from different regions of Rwanda for a practical and knowledge-driven learning experience aimed at strengthening the country’s livestock sector.

Strengthening Veterinary Skills Through Practical Learning

The opening day began with participant registration, introductions, and an overview of the workshop objectives. Participants were welcomed into an engaging learning environment designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical field experience in modern pig production systems.

The workshop focuses on key topics including:

  • Swine Reproduction
  • Artificial Insemination (AI) in Swine
  • Estrous Synchronization

Through presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions, participants explored modern reproductive technologies that help improve breeding efficiency, genetic quality, animal health, and overall farm productivity.

Advancing Rwanda’s Livestock Sector

The initiative reflects VAF’s continued commitment to strengthening Rwanda’s livestock industry through innovation, practical training, and knowledge transfer in modern animal production technologies.

As Rwanda’s agricultural sector continues to grow, professional training programs such as this CPD workshop play an important role in equipping veterinary professionals with practical skills that contribute to sustainable livestock development, improved food security, and increased farm profitability.

“Our goal is to equip veterinary professionals and animal health practitioners with practical knowledge and modern techniques that can improve productivity and animal welfare within the swine industry,” said a representative from VAF during the opening session.

Farm Tour and Participant Engagement

Participants also toured the VAF facilities, where they observed practical approaches used in pig production, reproductive management, and animal health practices. The tour created an opportunity for direct interaction between facilitators and participants while encouraging collaboration, networking, and professional experience sharing.

The enthusiasm and active participation demonstrated throughout Day One reflected the growing interest among veterinary professionals in adopting innovative livestock production technologies and modern farming practices.

Looking Ahead

As the workshop continues, participants are expected to engage in more practical demonstrations and advanced training sessions aimed at strengthening technical capacity in swine reproduction and veterinary field applications.
